Prayers 9

Almighty and Merciful Father, we come with joy and gladness in your presence as Children come to a loving Father, confident in your mercy, your grace, and your unparalleled love. We are truly grateful for all the way in which you have proved your faithfulness to every generation and to ours. We believe that as a nation we often grieve your heart and break your laws, yet you are patient and longsuffering, not willing that any should perish but that all might come to repentance and faith, and thus to life eternal in Jesus Christ. We thank you that your ear is always open to the prayers of your Children, and that you will grant them the things they need both materially, physically and spiritually. Being taught in your Holy Word and Way, may we examine our lives accordingly and renew our commitment and devotion to your Son our Saviour Jesus Christ. Bless our Homes today, our Family Circles and all those we love and care for. Help us to treasure the things that really matter, and to give time to one another and time to prayer for one another, so that when life is over we shall have been a blessing to someone, and helped them a little along the road of life. Heal the hurts of those who are anxious, lonely suicidal and despairing, and give us all a fresh purpose and motivation to live for God, and love for God and thus help transform our world. Give us patience with those who are difficult, and compassion for those who are different. Help us to understand that God commands a blessing on those who dwell together in unity. Enable us to resolve our differences and to accept one another as being created in the image of God.

For we ask all these our prayers in the precious name of Jesus and for His sake: Amen

Prayers of Intercession

Father of all Mercies, and God of all Comfort, we come in your Holy presence to acknowledge your Sovereign will and way in the affairs of our world, and while you have given to us responsibility for its well being, you are still on the Throne of Heaven, and have put all things in subjection under the feet of Jesus. Help us to know his help and guidance as we consider the plight of those less fortunate than ourselves. Give us a God inspired compassion for others, so that in generosity of heart and hand, we may minister effectively to their needs. Forgive us our often selfish ways, and enable us to give and not to count the cost, to toil and not to seek for rest, and to labour and not to seek reward, save that of knowing that we do your will. Inspire our vision with greatness so that we may attempt great things for God – and expect great things from God. Help us Lord to understand that you own the cattle on a thousand hills, and all the earth belongs to you. We acknowledge that we have only been given stewardship and not ownership of the things we may call our own. So help us then to invest our time, talents, energies and resources in the things that are eternal, and that cannot be taken away from us by time. Give our Politicians wisdom and vision for a better world and a better future, and help us to acknowledge you in all our ways so that you may direct our paths. Lord provide today for the needy, the poor, the homeless and the sick, and reach in to the hearts of all in despair with the healing touch of your great love. May we always be willing and ready to play our part in ministering to the necessities of others who are all our neighbour! Lord consider the prayers we have spoken and the silent prayers uttered from the heart, for we ask these things in the precious name of Jesus our Saviour who taught us when we pray to say

“Our Father ….”
